Converting iPhone HEIC photos to JPG

Renaming the extension is not enough

Changing `.heic` to `.jpg` does not change the data inside. The file may still be HEIC and fail on Windows apps, older web forms, or some email clients.

A proper conversion reads the image and encodes a new file in your chosen format. The extension and contents must match.

JPG, PNG, or WebP?

Most sharing and submissions: JPG has the widest support.

Transparent backgrounds: choose PNG or WebP. JPG does not support transparency.

Your original HEIC is not modified. Download and use the converted output.

Privacy and metadata

Photos can embed location, date, and device info. Re-encoding pixels in the browser often drops original EXIF/GPS from the output. Use the converted file when you want to share without location data.
